F35 Flyovers Are Timed to Celebrate 4th of July in Fifteen Different Communities And Still Be Back for Lunch
The Vermont Air National Guard’s 158th Fighter Wing will conduct a flyover on July 4, 2025, with four F-35 Lightning II jets departing South Burlington at 9:45 a.m. The route covers 15 locations across Vermont and upstate New York, including St. Albans, Burlington, Montpelier, St. Johnsbury, Newport, Morrisville, Jeffersonville, Middlebury, Rutland, Bennington, Manchester, Wardsboro, Plattsburgh, NY, Ticonderoga, NY, and returns to South Burlington by 11:15 a.m.
The flyover is timed to align with local Independence Day parades and events.
Based at Burlington Air National Guard Base, the 158th Fighter Wing has flown F-35s since 2019, when it became the first Air National Guard unit to operate these jets. “The flyover connects us with the communities we serve,” said Col. Michael Blair, wing commander. The event is weather-dependent, with updates provided by the Guard.
The route spans approximately 520 miles, calculated using straight-line distances between the listed locations. Flying at about 350 knots (400 mph), the jets will complete the 90-minute circuit from 9:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
