Sometimes the dearest of friends reach a community far better than any news outlet. This post is a perfect example. Please take a moment to read.

I first met Jean Newberry when she worked at the Tulsi Tea Room with her sweet boy on her hip and toddling around the tea room. It wasn't long before it was clear that we had a very similar devotion in life, to support parents and their young children. I often went there to see her and to rejuvenate from my own work with parents and raising children.
We shared in creating a beautiful Blessing Way together out at Rosemary Gladstar's land and yurt for a local mom. Years later, we were colleagues together at the Orchard Valley Waldorf School where she worked in the Sweet Clover Nursery, one of the anchoring staff there from the early days of the birth -3 program in the baby room. This program was one of the first of its kind in the US! Jean was a founding influence!!!
Even with all the attention and efforts to build better child care, it is still very low paid work, often without benefits. The loss of Jean Newberry in our community is a devastating blow to new parents and young children of our region because she is a rare individual devoting herself with such joy and love to the care of young children.
I'm sure I am not alone in wanting the best for her son Mliki. Please contribute as you are able to his well being and support.
Please join me in contributing to a fund to support her son and her family as they grieve and make a path without her physical presence.
